Pete Hunt

DuRee DuPree (Pete) Hunt, Jr., 75, of Dunlap departed this life, October 26, 2014. 

He was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, and he also enjoyed reading, music and singing.  Many will long remember his rendition of “These Hands.” He grew up on Lookout Mountain and was a member of the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.  He remembered his childhood there fondly and often spoke of his good fortune to grow up in such a wonderful place. He attended Baylor, Chattanooga City High School, and Presbyterian College. He was beloved by his family, friends, and adored dogs, and he will be greatly missed by them.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Price Hunt; his parents, DuRee DuPree Hunt, Sr., and Ruth Hatcher Hunt.  

DuPree or “D.D.,” as he was known by many, is survived by his second wife of 44 years, Nina; five children, DuRee DuPree “Tripp” Hunt, III of Nashville, Katie (Ben) Jumper of Chickamauga, Georgia, Susan DuRee (Paul) Weir of Norcross, Georgia, Joel Hamilton Hunt of Chickamauga, Georgia, and Hyland Hunt (Rick) of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Case Jumper, Kindal Jumper, Katie Hunt and Trent Hunt; as well as by his sister, Judy Hunt Pruett of Hixson; Pete was very close to his sister’s family. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a great-grandniece, as well.

     A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga and to the Chattanooga Humane Society.
