Joseph Mangano

Joseph  Nicholas  Mangano, Sr., 91, of Nashville entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 18, 2014 at McKendree Village in Hermitage after a brief illness.

He was born April 14, 1923 in Syracuse, New York. He was devoted to his family and had an extensive career in aviation, including a WW II combat veteran. He was loveable, likeable and entertaining with many stories and experiences. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth Maddin Mangano, of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Ewton Mangano; son, Nick Mangano and wife Sandi of Hershey, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren;  five great-grandchildren;  sisters-in-law, Mildred Maddin Hopkins and Mary Ruth Dunleavy; brothers-in-law, Bill Maddin and Dan (Gail) Ewton; nieces, Rev. Sandy Shawhan and Joy Wedekind Hunter; nephew, Zack Parrish, Jr.; five local nieces, two nephews and a special nephew, Howie (Donna) Ewton.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 2 at McKendree Village Chapel in Hermitage from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Burial will be Friday, November 28 at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Nashville.
