Fred D. Whitmire

Fred  D. Whitmire, 84, of Signal Mountain passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 14, 2014 at his home. He was a Church of God preacher for several years and owned and operated FW Landscaping. He was preceded in death by his wife,  Versie Whitmire; and son, Wayne Whitmire.

He is survived by five daughters, Susie (Taylor) Givens of Signal Mountain, Annette Woodard of Hixson, Judy (Jim) Fry of Nashville, Joann Whitmire of Chattanooga and Paulette (Clarence) Yoder of Dayton; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Grayson of Signal Mountain and Peggy Jeans Sims of Florida; two brothers, Kenneth Whitmire of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia and Ralph Whitmire Jr. of Signal Mountain; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held  Friday, January 17 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenneth Whitmire officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery on Signal Mountain.
