Ellen Coulson
Ellen Ann Mullins Coulson, 74, of Dunlap passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 after a brief illness.
Born in Richmond, Virginia to Kenneth and Margaret Mitchell, she was retired from Kennedy Space Center, where she was a property administrator for the space shuttle program. She was an accomplished artist, musician and singer and a member of the Cherokee Chapter 301 OES, Dunlap Lions Club and Dunlap United Methodist Church, where she was Sunday School superintendent and a member of the choir. She was an avid NASCAR fan and a huge supporter of Dale Sr. and Jr.
She enjoyed traveling, supporting Sequatchie County football and spoiling all of her grandchildren, to whom she was known as the world’s greatest Nana.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Darrell Mullins, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Arthur; sons, Darrell (Joy) Mullins of Melbourne, Florida and Kevin (Lynn) Mullins of Dunlap; stepchildren, Arthur (Laurie) Coulson of Apple Valley, Minnesota, James (Karen) Coulson of Dunlap and Sally DeSanto of Triangle, Virginia; grandchildren, Rachel (Tim) Wolfenbarger of Indialantic, Florida, Kyle Mullins of Nashville, Katie and Jesse Coulson of Apple Valley, Ryan Mullins of Melbourne, Joseph, Kenny and Jimmy Coulson, all of Dunlap; great-granddaughter, Julia Wolfenbarger of Indialantic; brothers, Kenny (Sandy) Mitchell of Weirs Valley and Cecil (Doris) Mitchell of Sneedsville; sisters, Romaine Briggs of Port St. John, Florida and Linda Boyer of Richmond, Virginia.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 27 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Curt McKee officiating. Burial was in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sequatchie County Cancer Network, Dunlap United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
