Tony Smith
Tony Lanier Smith, 55, formerly of Chattanooga departed this life to his heavenly home on July 7, 2013 at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco, California from heart complications.
Born August 15, 1957 in Macon, Georgia, he attended school at G. Russell Brown Elementary, Northside Jr. High and City High School in Chattanooga. He had a heart of gold and he never met a stranger. His hobby was art, in which he created beautiful paintings, charcoals and pencil etchings.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Hansel and Lottie Mae Smith Hitchcock; step-grandfather, John Hitchcock, all of Sandersville, Georgia, and Charlie and Mary Hickey of Chattanooga; and one nephew, Jonathan Rogers.
He is survived by his son, Bryan A. Smith, of Chattanooga; parents, Rev. Young H. Smith and Carolyn Hickey Smith of Chattanooga; brothers, Young (Ruthe) Smith Jr., of Rossville, and Charles (Chris) Smith of Nashville; sisters, Yvonne (Dennis) Rogers of Chattanooga, Wanda (Richard) Boyd, of Chattanooga, and Willanna Roy, who he called sister; former wife, Darlene Smith; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A memorial service was held Friday, August 2 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rick Smith officiating.
