Horace Mackey
Horace Edward Mackey, 90, of Dunlap died at his residence on Friday, August 2, 2013 after a lingering illness. He was born July 22, 1923 in Forest Cottage, Kentucky and served his country as a Navy pilot in WWII. He was a marketing development specialist, worked for the Department of Agriculture, a professor at the University of Kentucky, where he got his Masters Degree, and later retired as a farmer. He moved to the Sequatchie Valley in the 1980’s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ilus and Myrtle Catherine Tuggle Mackey; wife, Frances Newell Mackey; brother, Everett Mackey; and sister, Elizabeth Tuggle.
Survivors include his son, Edward Lee (Barbara) Mackey of Gastonia, North Carolina; granddaughter, Jennifer Mackey of Highpoint, North Carolina; brothers, Ray and Herbert Mackey of Kentucky; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 7 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Bill Wolf officiating. Burial was private in the family cemetery.
