Dr. Harry Wagner
Dr. Harry D. Wagner, 76, passed away on June 28, 2013 at his home in Murfreesboro after an extended illness.
He was a teacher and coach at Sequatchie County High School, a professor and administrator at MTSU, president of Martin College, president of Motlow College and president of Chattanooga State Technical Community College. He was active in community affairs and the Methodist church and was an avid fisherman, some claiming he was the best smallmouth bass fisherman in the area. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Technological University, a masters from the University of Tennessee and his doctor of education from George Peabody College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Susie Wagner; and brother, Don Wagner.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nancy Wilson Wagner; children, Rene (Rick) Francis, Maribeth (Joe) Hagan and Patti (Doug) Daws; brother, George (Joyce) Wagner; sister, Peggy (Edward) Kelly; and grandchildren, Nancy and Clay Francis, Molly and Jade Hagan and Caroline and Joseph Daws.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 2 at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
