Carroll Rutledge

Carroll Gene “Spud” Rutledge, 73, of Cartwright passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was retired from Tennessee Consolidated Coal Corp.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rutledge; parents, Earl and Villa Rutledge; sister, Earlene Cyree; and granddaughter, Tasha Davis.

Those left to cherish his memories are five children, Carol Davis (Danny) Hamilton, Howard (Starr) Rutledge of Cartwright, Villa (Sam) Davis of Whitwell, Norma (Danny) Kilgore of Palmer and Kathy (Paul) Shell of Murfreesboro; step-children, Vernon Layne of Ohio, Junior Layne of Crossroads, Don Layne of Whitwell, Billy Ralph Layne, Gene Layne and Ginger Sims of Dunlap; sister, Margaret Ann Hall of Winchester; brother, Luther Rutledge of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren, Derek, Brandon, Justin Davis, Bobby Joe, Makenzie Rutledge, Jason, Rachel Shell, Brittany Hunter, Rebecca Kilgore; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 13 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Condra Cemetery.
