David Lester Lewis, 70, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi departed this life, Monday, March 4, 2013.
He resided much of his life in Cleveland, Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Eldorado in San Diego, California with an honorable discharge. His awards include the National Defense, Viet Nam Service award and Republic of Viet Nam Campaign award and Meritorious Unit Commendation.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Lester Lewis; mother, Joyce Clark Lewis; and wife, Mary Johnston Lewis.
Survivors include a daughter, Sonya Gentry; step daughters, Nancy McBee-Sammons and Donna Grayson Kilgore; sons-in-law, Chris Sammons and Shane Gentry; step-son, Randy Easterly; brothers, Steve Lewis and Mark Lewis; sister, Robin Choksy; grandchildren, Jennifer Graves, April Skinner, Lindsay Coggins-Pedigo, and Taylor and Hannah Gentry; great-grandchildren, Erika, Kara and Heather Graves, Blake Ramsey, Jacob and Holly Skinner, Brennan Coggins and Kade Cash Coggins. Many of his family reside in and around the Cleveland, Dunlap and Nashville area.
The family will hold a private graveside service on Friday, March 22 at 11:30 p.m. EST at the Chattanooga National Cemetery provided by Coastal Funeral Home in Moss Point, Mississippi.
