Cecil Minton

McMinnville resident and Sequatchie County native, Cecil Etherege Minton, 77, born December 30, 1935, died January 3, 2013 at River Park Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was a retired manager and tool and die maker with A.O. Smith, a United States Army veteran of Korea and member of the Rolling Acres Brethren in Christ Church. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waymon H. and Wilma Earlene McCarver Minton; and brother, Clayborn Minton.

He was married May 8, 1959 to Mollie Powers of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Grete Porter Minton of McMinnville; two grandchildren, Zachary Minton and wife Kati and Wesley Minton and fiancée Victoria Woods; great-grandson, Easton Lake Minton; brother, Howard Minton of Dunlap; two sisters, Betty Stocker of Dunlap and Lois Grammer of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 6 in the funeral home chapel with Ernie Webber and Tony Smedley officiating. Burial was in White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County with full military honors given by the VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 1723.

High’s Funeral Home of McMinnville was in charge of arrangements.
