Ernest Layne Jr

Ernest Layne Jr., 90, of Michigan died at home, Thursday, January 3, 2013. He served his country in the Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Camp Layne; parents, Ernest and Hester Tate Layne; brothers, Robert, Ray, Roy, Charlie Bill, Chester and Leonard “Cotton” Layne; and sister, Maggie.

Survivors include his children, Patricia Ernestine Layne, Beverly Ann Layne, both of Michigan, Ronnie R. Layne of Tennessee, Brenda Kay O’Brien, Dorothy Gay Weatherly, Ross Dean Layne, Barbara Lynn Wietecha and Donald Layne Wood, all of Michigan; step-children, Lena Grace and Frank Hobbs of Michigan and Harrison Hobbs of Tennessee; brother, Eugene Layne of Ohio; 23 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 7 in the funeral home chapel. Burial was in Cookston Cemetery.
