John Garfield Roe
John Garfield Roe, 66, of the Lusk community in Bledsoe County left this earthly home for his eternal home on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
He retired after 45 years with Provident, Provident General, NWNL, Gieco, Merastar, Prudential and Unitrin Direct, collectively. He was also a deacon at Ewtonville Baptist Church and a charter member of Sequatchie Valley Camp of the Gideons International.
He was preceded in death by his son, Duane Jeffrey Roe and brother, Christopher Mark Roe.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia Harwood Roe; son, Cotton (Denise) Roe; and daughter, Sabrina (Dwight) Blevins. He was “Poppaw” to Anthony and Brandon (Jenni) Blevins of Houston, Sarah, William and Jacob Roe; and great-grandson, Logan Lee Blevins; parents, Charles and Jessie Roe of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina; brothers, Charles G. Roe of Costa Mesa, California and Thomas S. Roe of Pisgah Forest; sister, Billie P. Bazley of Brevard, North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Buddy Strickland and Rev. Brian Kearns officiating. Burial was in Collier Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were his co-workers, Love Sunday School Class, deacons of Ewtonville Baptist Church and Gideons and Auxiliary members.
