Reuben Pope

Reuben Jackson Pope, 83, of Dunlap died August 27, 2012 at his home.

He was a faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for 54 years. He retired in 1992 from Coors Ceramics, formerly General Electric, 3M and American Lava, after 39 years of service. He was the devoted and loving patriarch of his family. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and cruised the Mediterranean with the Navy for a year during his service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nellie Pope; sister, Barbara Wolfe; and brothers, Billy Pope, Bobby Hatfield and Jimmy Pope.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Ina Ruth Pope; brother, Don (Doris) Pope; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Hatfield and Mary Ellen Pope; children, Linda (Jerome) Johnson, Lonnie (Angela) Pope, Terri (Kimball) McAfee, all of Dunlap; grandchildren, Darla (Natte) Jourdan of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, April (Matt) Lewis, Andre Pope-Johnson, Christian and Jackson Pope, Justin, Leigh Ann, Lauren and Alayna McAfee; one great-grandchild, Zoe Lewis, all of Dunlap and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 30 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eugene Kilgore officiating. Burial was in Sequatchie County Memorial Gardens.
