James “Jim” Winfred Thomas II, 71, of Whitwell passed away Monday, April 16, 2012.
He was the owner of Thomas Brothers Construction and Dunlap Stone, Inc. He was on the board of the Church of God Laity and was on the board of directors of T.L. Lowery Global Ministries and also on the board of directors of Washington College.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Thomas Sr. and Elsie Bingham Thomas; and sister, Shirley Thomas Baugh.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 36 years, Laura Lofty Thomas; five children, James (Amy) Thomas III, Andrew Thomas of Chattanooga, Jeremy Thomas, Sandra (Bill) Sims Brown, LaShawn (Luther) Sims Barnes of Whitwell; sister, Betty (Dan) Thomas Smith of Hixson; brother, Paul (Pat) Thomas of Soddy Daisy; step-mother, Dixie Downer Thomas; seven grandchildren, Caroline Thomas, Taylor Thomas, Anthony Baker, Ashton Baker, Keylee Baker, William Brown and Emily Brown; and two great grandchildren, Kaden Baker and Landon Goforth.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 19 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis McGuire officiating. Burial was in Thomas Family Cemetery in Whitwell.
