Mauvine Jordan Brown
Mauvine Jordan Brown, born January 22, 1920, the matriarch of the Brown family and last surviving child of John and Cordia Jordan, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2011 at 91 years of age. She was a charter member of the Home Demonstration Club and a member of Pikeville Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, farming and lived a green life before green life came about. She enjoyed entering exhibits in the local fair and was always there for anyone in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton P. Brown; parents, Cordia Mathis Jordan and John E. Jordan; son, J. Lee Brown; grandson, Ricky Brown; sisters, Cleo McMillen, Lee Davis and Eve Whitney; and brothers, Carl Jordan and Bruce Jordan.
Survivors include sons, Richard “Dick” (Judy) Brown and Mack (Roberta) Brown, all of Pikeville; daughters, Faye B. Robertson of Crossville and Doris (Earl) Morgan of Pikeville; nine grandchildren, Gina (David) Boynton, Perry Brown, Deborah Curtis, Joe Curtis, Penny Curtis, Kim (Chris) Howard, Paul (Kim) Brown, Lisa (Rocky) Evans and Laurie C. Harris; 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 17 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Albert Roberts and Bro. James Dunn officiating.
Burial was in Worthington Cemetery.
