Freeman Brackett

Freeman Harrold Brackett, 70, of Athens died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Park West Hospital at Knoxville.

He was a veteran of the Air Force and U.S. Army. He was a commercial fisherman in Morehead City, North Carolina for 19 years before returning to Tennessee. He enjoyed fishing, drag racing and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Migie and Mildred Frances Brackett and one sister, Brenda Gail Brackett Dacus.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Brackett of Athens; five daughters, Katie Brackett of Athens, Amy Earls of Etowah, Kim Westergaard of Wisconsin, Cara Timmons of Cleveland and Denise Brackett of Benton; one son, Troy Brackett of South Carolina; one sister, Reba Sue Brackett of Chatsworth, Georgia; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Rueben and Marjorie Brackett of Etowah, Randy Duane Brackett of Chatsworth and Jim and Kathy Brackett of Etowah; and one very special cousin, friend and fishing buddy, David Harrold of Cleveland.

A memorial dinner was held on Saturday, May 21 in Chatsworth. His ashes will be spread in Morehead City, North Carolina.
