Mary Etta Smith

Mary Etta Smith, 73, of Pikeville died Saturday, April 23, 2011.

She was of the Church of God faith and one of the founders of the headstart program in Bledsoe County. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Brown and Lillie Mae Johnson; sisters, Juanita Casper, Imogene May and Lucille Coffelt; and brothers, Gordon, J.L. and Bill Johnson.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Harley “Pete” Smith; three daughters, Patricia Wooden of Pikeville, Polly Smith of Dunlap and Diane (Gary) Bickford of Pikeville; three sons, Kenny (Lorie) Smith of Spencer, Keith (Lori) Smith of Pikeville and Denny (Leonda) Smith of Pikeville; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ann Wilson of Alabama, Jo Graham and Ruby (Larry) Truman of Ohio, Devota (Jonny) Debney of Pikeville and Hazel (Jerry) Holland of Dunlap; sister-in-law, Lucille Johnson of Pikeville; aunt, Fronie Hennessee of Spencer; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 26 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Wendell Harris, Bro. Donnie Cox and Bro. James Daggett officiating.

Burial was in Cagle Cemetery.
