Nancy L. (Couch) Heavner

    Nancy L. (Couch) Heavner, 75, died on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland. Formerly of Hagerstown Maryland, she resided in Selbyville, Deleware, for the last five years. Born February 1, 1935 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mabel V. Reel.

    Heavner worked at EJ Fennel as a seamstress until the closing of the business. She then obtained her high school diploma and worked at Rotorex in Walkersville, Maryland, for several years. She retired from Action Products in Hagerstown.

    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett “Don” L. Couch; a  brother, Leonard Reel; and a sister, Margaret Gardner.

    She is survived by two daughters, Frances I. Chapman and husband Lee of Dunlap, and daughter Brenda L. Tomlinson and husband Bill of Selbyville, Deleware, with whom she resided for the past 12 years; two granddaughters, whom she raised, Nanaette Kagle Bordner and husband Ken of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, and Angela Kagle Ashworth of Hagerstown; and the two most precious things in her life, great-granddaughters, Paige Morgan Ashworth and Jenna Brook Ashworth also of Hagerstown; brother, Howard Reel and a sister, Catherine Handschuh, , both of Baltimore, Maryland.

    Funeral services were held January 8 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown, Maryland with the Reverend Louis Emerick officiating.  Interment was at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the service.
