    After a busy week, the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests in the county, which included drug charges and attempted kidnapping.
    On Sunday, July 19, Deputy Mark Easterly received a call of a possible meth lab on Pascoe Cemetery Road. Upon arrival, said Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock, Easterly found a bag containing components used in the manufacturing of methamphetamines. After investigation, the Tennessee Meth Task Force and the Sheriff’s Department assisted in the arrest of Devin Higdon of Soddy Daisy for the manufacturing of methamphetamines.
    A total of three people were arrested the following day on Monday, July 20, after a traffic stop was made by Deputy Chris Dennis on U.S. Highway 111. According to the report, Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Victor was led around the vehicle and indicated drugs were inside. Officers searched the vehicle and found prescription pills, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia along with a weapon. Ray Martin, Lisa Back and Reba Robbins were arrested and charged with possession of schedule II drugs - meth, possession of schedule II drugs – pills, and the possession of a weapon. Deputy Paul Howard assisted in the arrest.
    On Tuesday, July 21, officers were called for an attempted kidnapping on Flynn Road, said Sheriff Hitchcock. When law enforcement arrived, they talked to the mother of the victim, who is a juvenile. It was found the suspect, Cody Higdon, of Dunlap, grabbed the child and drove away with him before releasing the child without harm.
    The suspect was found and charged with the attempted kidnapping of a child. The child and its mother’s name are being withheld for the safety of the child, said Hitchcock.
    Officers arrested Danielle Barnes of Dunlap for stealing a credit card. On Wednesday, July 22, officers found the credit card was being used at several stores in the City of Dunlap, said the Sheriff. After investigating surveillance videos at the stores, officers went to the residence of Barnes and found evidence against her. Sergeant Keith Land and Patrolman Robert Raber from the Dunlap Police Department assisted in the case.
    A home invasion was reported on Wednesday, July 22 when Sergeant Gary Craft and Deputy Mark Easterly were called to Raven Cliff Road. Hitchcock said, the officers found the front door was busted open and someone had entered without permission. The name of the victim of the home invasion is withheld because the investigation is ongoing.
    Joshua Young, of Soddy Daisy, was arrested after attempting to run citizens off the roadway on Highway 111, reports Sheriff Hitchcock. On Thursday, July 23, officers from the Dunlap Police Department and Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, trying to run other vehicles off of the roadway. Officers stopped the vehicle and after checking the suspect for warrants, it was found he was wanted out of Soddy Daisy. Hitchcock noted during the arrest, officers found Lortab and Xanex pills on him. He was arrested and taken to the Sequatchie County Jail for booking and a hold was placed by the Soddy Daisy Police Department.
    Young was charged with possession of schedule IV and schedule III drugs. Detective Cody Smith and Patrolman Raber assisted in the case alongside Detective Jody Lockhart.
