The 2010 Sequatchie County Fair will kick off with the Fairest of the Fair Pageant Friday night, July 16. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and will feature Teen Miss, Senior Miss and the Fairest of the Fair contests. On Saturday, July 17 the younger divisions will compete, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Bluegrass For Kids will be available for anyone wishing to listen to bluegrass, gospel and country music by live performers on Saturday night at 4:00 p.m.
Exhibits can be entered from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the fairgrounds starting Monday, July 19. This includes vegetables, fruits, crafts, pictures, sewing, canning, quilts and scrapbook exhibits.
The following day, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., flowers and plant exhibits will be accepted. Baked goods can be entered from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. that evening.
The Dixieland Carnival opens Tuesday, July 20 at 6:00 p.m. Gospel Night starts at the same time.
Demonstrations and workshops on quilting will be made available on Wednesday, July 21 from noon until the fair closes. Line dancing begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by Open Mic Night at 6:00 p.m. The 2010 Sequatchie County Talent Show begins at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, July 23, Four On The Floor will be performing live on the mainstage starting at 6:00 p.m. A senior Rummy tournament will be at 1:00 p.m. that day.
The fair will be holding 4-H Day on Saturday, July 24, which will feature various 4-H events, such as the Clover Bowl, to celebrate 100 years of Extension Office work in Sequatchie County. A rabbit show will be held at 5:00 p.m., followed by a goat show at 5:30 p.m. where locals can show off their pets. The annual Sequatchie County Dog Show will be at 6:00 p.m. On the mainstage at 8:00 p.m. will be Tony Poole, performing his original music. The winners of the Talent Show will be invited back to perform again on Saturday.
