Several thousand dollars worth of marijuana plants in planting pots were discovered last week, reports Sheriff Ronnie Hitchcock. The plants were found once information was received from the State Highway Department.

The find was off the roadway on Highway 28, Hitchcock explained, where officers found over 30 plants at the edge of a wooded area.

“The plants were on little trays and potted in cups, reaching anywhere between three and eight inches tall,” he said. “By the time they are in full growth, a marijuana plant can fetch more than $800 a piece.”

These young marijuana plants were ready to be transplanted into soil and grown, noted Hitchcock.

No information has been released concerning suspects. Hitchcock said, the matter is still under investigation and very little can be said.

“The plants were found and taken into the Sequatchie County Justice Center and destroyed,” Hitchcock reported. “There’s nothing more I can say at this time.”
