After Sequatchie County General Sessions Court on Thursday, January 7, two cases are headed to the Grand Jury. Jennifer Leeann Neal was bound over for charges of forgery, fraudulent use of a credit card, one charge of theft over $500 and one charge of theft under $500. Christopher Pugh was bound over for his charge of escape. In other cases, Darryl Glenn Layne was found guilty of attempting to commit felony possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of schedule II drugs (methamphetamines). He was ordered to pay $750 in fines plus court costs. Layne was ordered to serve 11 months and 29 days in jail for possession of drug paraphernalia, with credit for previously serving 253 days. For the rest of the sentence, Layne will be under supervised probation with Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency (SETHRA), court records show. His 11-month, 29-day sentence for attempting to commit felony possession was suspended and placed under probation with SETHRA. The 11-month, 29-day sentence ordered for simple possession of schedule II drugs was suspended upon supervised probation concurrent with his other charges. He was originally charged with initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine, manufacturing schedule II drugs (meth), and possession of schedule II drugs (meth). Wendell Scott Turner pled guilty to first offense driving under the influence (DUI), amended from third offense DUI, and resisting arrest. He was ordered to pay a fine of $350 plus court costs. Turner was ordered to serve 11 months and 29 days under SETHRA supervision with credit for time served. Turner’s charges of driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, disorderly conduct, vandalism under $500 and implied consent were dismissed. Jared Keith Welch was found guilty of possession of schedule VI drugs (marijuana). He was ordered to pay a fine of $250 plus court costs and serve an 11-month, 29-day sentence, suspended over time previously served. His charges of felony evading and aggravated burglary were dismissed. Jennifer Elaine Newby pled guilty to fraudulent use of a credit card. She was ordered to pay $50 plus court costs by April 1. Newby was ordered to serve 11 months and 29 days, to be suspended upon payment. Mardell D. Harmon pled guilty to violating the sex offender act. He was ordered to serve 11 months and 29 days in jail, suspended over time previously served. Nathan Drew Barker pled guilty to public intoxication and was ordered to pay a $5 fine plus court costs. Monica Sha Newman was ordered to pay a $25 fine for open container. Lester Wilkey, Jr. was ordered to pay a fine of $5 plus court costs by February 5 for littering. His charge of unsafe operations was dismissed. Starla Kay McLaughlin was given 60 days to pay her fine of $50 plus court costs for speeding. She was ordered to attend Defensive Driving School and her charge of driver’s license violation for corrective lenses was dismissed. Clifton Leon Hamilton and Jonathan Ryan Smartt were ordered to pay $20 fines for not wearing a seatbelt and ordered to attend Defensive Driving School for speeding. John Houston Stone’s charge of driving on a revoked driver’s license was dismissed. Stone was ordered to attend Defensive Driving School for speeding. Joey Patrick Massey’s charges of expired driver’s license and financial responsibility were dismissed, but his charge of speeding earned him an order to attend Defensive Driving School. Larry Dwayne Brown was found guilty of speeding and was ordered to attend Defensive Driving School. His charge of expired driver’s license was dismissed. Tunis Raymond Tyo was ordered to pay a fine of $5 plus court costs for speeding. Felisha W. Grant was ordered to attend Defensive Driving School for failing to yield. Miguel L. Vinson, Bradley Levi Phillips and Amber Nicole Huddleston’s charges of financial responsibility were dismissed. But, they were ordered to attend Defensive Driving School for speeding. Ordered to attend Defensive Driving School for speeding were William Ray Dotson, Janice Sue Harvey, Jason Bryan Hulsey, Nancy Luann Owens, Donna Weller Pugliese, Jessie Veon Simmons, Daniel Vincent Shanahan, Michael B. Steel and Jerry W. Cook. Dismissed cases included charges of not possessing a driver’s license, light law, financial responsibility, not wearing a seatbelt, child restraint, move over law, registration law, domestic assault, disorderly conduct, and bumper law.
